(Sao Paulo, SoloAzar Exclusive).- Jhuana Lamas, Sales Director Brazil at Sportingtech, was interviewed by SoloAzar about the firm's participation in the SIGMA Americas - BiS event held in Sao Paulo last June. She highlighted the place of this event in LATAM, and revealed that Sportingtech already has local teams and plans to open offices in Brazil, with a strong bet on the country as a model to follow once the regulation is approved.

"Sportingtech's participation at SIGMA AMERICAS - BiS Brazil was a wonderful experience", Jhuana Lamas, Sales Manager Brazil at Sportingtech

Sportingtech is the leading, multi-award winning iGaming platform, providing world-class sports betting software on over 100 sports, top casino games, various virtual sports, an ever-growing eSports offering, every imaginable payment method and many other third-party integrations to meet the needs within the B2B industry.

How did you experience the five days of the tradeshow and what innovations did you present?

To be a part of an event of this size in my home country has been a wonderful experience. This is the third year in a row we’ve exhibited here in Sao Paulo and to see the growth of SiGMA Americas this year has been great to see, and arguably brings this event into the tier 1 category of shows. For us this was a great opportunity to showcase our full range of products and services to existing and potential new partners. We wanted to highlight the true power and flexibility of our brand and how we can offer bespoke products for any operator.

What were the topics that most caught your attention during the event?

These events are always useful when understanding the issues operators are facing, and how we can assist them in overcoming any obstacles. We also gained some valuable insight as to where the regulatory process is across several countries, and understanding what the current roadblocks are and how this will impact our business as well as our operator partners. Away from the industry news, something that we noticed was the number of operators that had taken the opportunity to exhibit. This was mainly for affiliate purposes, but it was a welcome addition for providers as it showed that operators in Brazil are open to conversations and looking for new innovative ways to enhance their offering – whether it’s payment solutions, casino content integration, an intuitive CRM or another element to improve their business.

Considering that in Brazil, gambling is not yet regularized, what are the company's perspectives on this debate?

Well, where can you start? It has been an on-going process and we are ready for regulations to be green-lit. I think it has been a sensible process, despite the length of time it has taken. The Brazilian market will be huge for the industry, but it is only right that player safety and a responsible environment is the key focus. We have remained clear in our vision, and have not been deterred by any regulatory updates. We have the best compliance team, that helps us navigate the latest changes, and pride ourselves on our ability to switch gear and work within fresh parameters so it has been business as usual for Sportingtech throughout.

Why are you interested in the Brazilian market and what are your company's plans for the Brazilian market?

Brazil is in many ways the jewel in the LatAm crown, and we expect to see other countries in the region follow suit and look at Brazil as the template to follow once regulations are approved. The country's passion for sports, particularly football, creates a fertile ground for sports betting. With increasing internet penetration and a tech-savvy population, the iGaming sector in Brazil has the potential to experience substantial growth in the coming years. Brazil has been of importance to Sportingtech for a number of years now, which is why we already have native speaking teams in place across all departments (myself included) to support operators on their journey of success. This will also be strengthened with our eventual plans to have an office in Brazil as well. That aside, we plan on doing what we do so well, delivering tailored products and solutions for operators, that significantly enhances their reputation with bettors.

Can you tell us about your plans for expansion in Latin America?

As important as Brazil is, Chile and Peru also present interesting opportunities in their own right, and with the importance we place on localisation, we are primed to deliver for those audiences and become the go-to choice for operators. The LatAm market brings with it a wealth of opportunities, and it would be foolish to focus on just one territory when there are several others where we can make an impact.
